Minsi Trails Council, Inc., BSAResourcesMultiple Unit Event Permission Form

Multiple Unit Event Permission Form

Because of current National policy, if you intend to hold an event that welcomes registered members from unit(s) outside the chartered partnership of the host unit then this form must be submitted at least 60 days prior to that event.  A council representative will reply with our response.

Why is this form needed?

Chartering organizations play an important role in the program and activities for their chartered units. Chartering organizations promote well-planned unit program for the units they charter and encourage their units to have active outdoor unit programs. Chartering organizations are not authorized to plan, promote, or deliver programs for units outside of their charter.

It is the role of councils to plan long-term or resident camps and the role of councils or districts to plan camporees (short-term camps) and other outings following National Camp Accreditation Program standards.

Units with different chartered organizations that wish to hold activities together must have council approval.  This page serves as the Minsi Trails Council’s form to obtain council permission.  Please wait until a Council representative responds to your request before promoting your event.

Typical Multi-unit activities:

  • Webelos Weekends for Troops to promote retention into Scouts BSA
  • Units filling spots in a BSA specialty program (for instance pack aquarium overnights)

Typical requests that will be denied:

  • Units trying to hold a multi-unit event for a geographic area.  These should be a district event.

Agreements to hold a multi-unit event

  • The Guide to Safe Scouting must be followed at all times.
  • Youth protection two deep leadership requirement for each unit present for the entirety of the event.
  • There must be a receipt issued for all money collected by participants.
  • The event must clearly be advertised as a unit event – it cannot mention the Minsi Trails Council (MTC) or use the MTC logo.
  • There must be a clearly marked contact person for the event with name, unit, email and phone number.
  • Permission must be requested for each event date and acceptance for one event does not guarantee acceptance for future events.
