Things to do at Camp Minsi

Camping:
Camp Minsi offers a variety of camping options - wilderness, rustic, improved and cabin camping. Stay in the wild, or in grassy sites, or on platforms, or in cabins!
Hiking and Orienteering:
Camp Minsi offers over 20 miles of hiking trails, a beautiful natural landscape and a variety of interesting sites and landmarks to be seen. Detailed trail maps are available online or from the Campmaster. Great sites to see and explore include: Hunter's Cabin site, Duck Puddle and Dotter's Spring, and the historic Ice House ruins. The camp also is home to a 25-point land-navigation course for orienteering and geocaching (see the camp Ranger or Campmaster for information).
Swimming and Boating:
Camp Minsi has two canoe packs (a total of 18 canoes) available for rental. Canoes can be taken off-site and used for a unit float trip; or can be used on-site at Stillwater Lake. Our docks are in the water year-round for swiming. Please note that you must provide your own Safe-Swim qualified leadership for any aquatic activities.
Fishing:
Stillwater Lake offers ample fishing opportunities. The common fish in the 314-acre lake are bass, pickerel, yellow perch, catfish and sunfish. The tailwaters of Stillwater Lake flow to compose Tunkhannock Stream and offer Brook and Rainbow trout fishing as well. Bring your own fishing gear and tackle. A current Pennsylvania fishing license is required for any person age 16 and over. You can go to the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission website (www.fish.state.pa.us/license.htm) and purchase a 7-day tourist fishing license.
Winter Activities:
Winter in the Poconos provides a variety of great opportunities for Scouts! In the winter, Stillwater Lake freezes to a depth of about 10 to 16 inches thick - providing great opportunities for ice fishing, ice skating, ice hockey, and hiking on the frozen lake. Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and igloo making are other popular activities. Nearby outfitters just minutes from Camp Minsi also offer downhill skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing.
Service Projects:
Lot’s of camp improvement activities are available for troops that want to do a good turn and give back to our camp and Scouting. Check with the camp Ranger or Campmaster upon checking in to sign up for a camp improvement project.
